The Spot and El Canal — for the more experienced

Cabarete's trade winds typically build through the morning and are strongest by early-to-mid afternoon. Most surfers plan around this: surf sessions in the morning while the water is glassier, then kitesurfing or wing foiling at Kite Beach (about a 12-minute drive) once the wind fills in.

Reef-safe sunscreen is worth prioritizing — the reef breaks here are shallow in places, and standard sunscreen is discouraged near the reef systems along this coast.
